Don Veinot, co-founder of Midwest Christian Outreach, along with his wife, Joy, has recently uploaded the current issue of their Journal. Included in the lead article is an analysis of homeschooling leader, Doug Phillips, and his ministry, Vision Forum, as well as references to the book Mr. Veinot wrote after thoroughly researching Bill Gothard’s ministry. This article is a must-read for every homeschooler. According to Midwest Christian Outreach, in their 12 years of ministry, this is their most requested article to date.

Karen, you are courageous. Thank you for posting this, in spite of the nastiness that will no doubt be sent in your direction because of it.
I can get the article to load, but it won’t scroll down so I can read it. Grrr!
Can anyone give me some highlights?
Susie
Thank you Karen for posting this PDF file. It was excellently written! I look forward to the September pod casts.

I can’t seem to even get the website to load. Could you send me the file? About two years ago I felt convicted to get rid of and stop reading Vision Forum articles, tapes, etc., so I’d be interested to read this article.
[...] that idealized family, how many of us have turned to the Pearls, the Ezzos, the Phillips, the Bauchams. . . or whoever currently has a voice and paints a pretty picture of an ideal [...]
I quit getting Vision Forum stuff because of these issues.
I am not an egalitarian, but a complentarian along the lines of Wayne Gruden and John Piper. I believe women are subject to their husbands and that the office of pastor/bishop/overseer is reserved for men. BUT, my husband does not demean me or think I shouldn’t someday pursue graduate school. He wants our daughter educated in more than just homemaking skills, important as those are. Again, I just think Vision Forum is overreacting to the feminism of our day. Besides, who wants to pay a hundred bucks for a “beautiful girlhood doll”? That’s just ridiculous.
And while I’m glad I’m an American, my citizenship is in heaven (Phil 3:20).
Vision Forum makes preferences into biblical mandates and that’s WRONG. Their assertion that you should never split up the family isn’t practical. If that’s true, then neither the parents nor the children should associate with anyone their own age. Again, it’s an overreaction to the immediate splitting up of the family once they walk through the doors of the church. They are so family-focused, so inwardly-driven that they’ve turned their family into their god.
We desperately need balance!
